Tanker safety

Tanker leaks can be potentially damaging to both your business and the environment. To combat this, all vapour recovery systems and tanks manufactured after September 1996 must be tested every three years.

The Health and Safety Executive decreed that visual checks and the 'surge' testing of tankers is unacceptable for certification purposes. FTA's tank certification service acknowledges this and helps ensure absolute safety for your drivers and the public.

  • FTA's Tanker Certification Service has responded to HSE concerns on current practice and now uses highly efficient, low pressure testing systems for tankers.
  • The on site service fully checks the integrity of tanks and all related equipment, using harmless nitrogen, to ensure legal compliance.
  • Low pressure gas testing also identifies leaks in P/V values, run off pipes, vapour equipment and all related values, vents and seals.
  • The system's dual pressure operation delivers accurate results, which guarantees the absolute safety of your tanker's whole system to standards consistent with the work carried out by the Institute of Petroleum Technical Committee.
  • Ensures your tanks are legally compliant
