Utilities and Civil Engineering Transport Conference from FTA

FTA's Essential Services Working Group and Utilities Transport Association are coming together to hold an industry conference at Stratford Upon Avon on 4 June. The event is targeted to manage risk and identify best practice, duty of care, and general compliance on environment and transport for utilities and their contactors. Between them the two groups operate a diverse cross-section of vehicles, with a combined fleet strength of over half a million.

Freight customers reject proposed aviation tax - 'own goal' on UK industry

In a formal submission to the Treasury the Freight Transport Association has rejected Government proposals for the introduction of a duty on individual air flights which would, for the first time, impose a tax on air freight. FTA says that such a tax would add unnecessary costs on to UK air freight services, some of which would switch to continental airports and then truck goods in and out of the UK, adding to UK roads congestion.

The Freight Transport Association has published the latest issue of the FTA Van Drivers' Handbook, sponsored by Ford - the essential guide to ensuring the safe, legal and efficient operation of vans and light commercial vehicles. The 78 page handbook is designed to give the van driver a quick and easy reference guide in order to stay legally compliant, together with practical advice and information on the daily operation of the vehicle.

  

Tachograph compliance - a complete service at operator base

The Freight Transport Association has produced a new tachograph compliance service designed to help vehicle operators meet their legal obligations. The new scheme is delivered on-site at operator premises. Expert and experienced FTA personnel visit operator premises and conduct a variety of compliance activities supporting in-house administration and advising on remedial care or efficiency improvements.

  

FTA compliance advice for Iveco dealers

Iveco Limited and the Freight Transport Association have agreed on a programme to further improve the O-licence understanding within the Iveco dealer network. Each dealership will nominate a 'compliance point of contact' who will receive all correspondence, legislation updates, e-news, publications and have access to the FTA Member Advice Centre. This contact will then circulate relevant issues within the dealership departments locally.
