Trade Routes

The following routes have been identified by members of FTA’s South West Freight Council as the most congested parts of the regional network most urgently in need of upgrading and further investment.

Investment priorities for the South West Rail Network

	Swindon - conflict with passenger services
	Bristol – congestion and conflict with passenger services
	North Devon Bank - some loads require splitting and shunting through this stretch of the line
	Plymouth to Penzance - congestion and passenger conflict along the primary to secondary line
	Gloucester to Bristol - conflict with passenger services
